How Content Lock Works
Role-based permissions
Content Administrator role: When Content Lock is enabled on your site, this role is added.
- a content-controlling role in your CMS. Users with this This Content Administrator role can control:
- on a single or source site: lock and unlock content objectsdata types and items
- on a single or source site: add, edit and delete locked objects
- control deploy settings on a target site: control what locked content is deployed to networked target sites (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)

Content Lock allows the Content Administrator
Multisite networks
Deploy Content must also be enabled on the source site.
CMS Administrators and Content Administrators- on a target site: unlock deployed content for editing (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)
NOTE - The CMS Admin has all Content Admin permissions by default.
Enable Content Lock
CMS Admin and Content Admin roles can enable and disable the content locking feature on the parent a site after implementation the feature has been switched on by Commerce Vision.
To enable/disable locking:
CMS
- In the CMS, go to Settings → Settings → Feature Management → Content → Content Lock.
- Toggle ON/OFF Content Lock.
Assign Roles
By default, the Administrator and Content Administrator roles are able to lock/unlock a content area.
With Content Lock enabled, a CMS Administrator can assign the Content Administrator role to specific users who are to manage content locking. Other users will be able to view but not edit locked content.
