It is now increasingly popular for visitors to a selling site to use the Search facility for finding static content such as product guides, how-to articles or info about firmware upgrades for the device they purchased. We have widened the existing Product Search functionality so that you can configure the search tool to include such static content in search results. Because our Search facility is a widget, you can even create a separate search facility just to find content pages if you wish. |
In typical its common use, the Search facility ('Product Search' widget) on your site (usually located in the themes layout) is used by website visitors to look for products. They type in keywords, usually product names or codes, and the search results find products you are selling linked to those keywords. Content (web) pages that contain the keywords are not automatically indexed and so, are not included in the results. You can now choose to include such content if you wish, or even add another Search facility just for finding such pages.
