MultiExcerptNameFeature Overview

Add product features online in the CMS rather than retrieve them from the ERP. These features are used by filters to help customers narrow down their search results to the products that are best matches. 


Metadata help your customers find what they're looking for quickly and easily. They are product features that can be tagged to specific products. When customers run product searches, they can filter results using product features. 


Traditionally, product feature data (or metadata) has always been integrated from the ERP. This needs someone to go into the ERP to update this information. You can now maintain feature metadata in the CMS. 


Warning

Commerce Vision recommends that this task be done on all products at once rather than in stages to avoid products without features being excluded from searches.


Prerequisites

In order to maintain your metadata online, here's what to needs to be configured: 

Product Features enabled


To enable Product Features:

  1. In the CMS, navigate to SettingsFeature ManagementProducts & CategoriesProduct Features.
     

  2. Toggle ON Product Features.

Integrator Custom Tables Setting

  1. Open the Integrator client and click the 'Set Options' link for Custom Tables.

  2. Ensure these tables are not enabled: "stock-master-extra-detail->CUSTOM_STockMasterExtraDetail" and "sytem-table→system_table".

If they are selected, de-select them and click OK.


Once your site is configured as above, you're ready to maintain all of your product feature metadata in the CMS! 

Create a feature

  1. In the CMS, navigate to Products & Categories Product Features

  2. Click Add New Feature


  3. Enter a name for the feature. 
  4. Toggle the display options on or off as required. See Metadata visibility for further information. 

  5. Click Save & Exit


Assign features to products

  1. In the CMS, navigate to Products & Categories → Product Maintenance.

  2. Search for the product you wish to update and click Edit

  3. Scroll to the Features section.

  4. Click Add Feature and select from the dropdown. 
  5. Enter a value for this product.



  6. To add another product feature, click Add Feature and go through steps 4-5. 

  7. Once you have finished, click Save

Presto!

Depending on the display settings you chose, your feature info will now display in various contexts as customers browse your site. Nice work. (thumbs up)
